Bow tie and Anna W for Christmas

In Uncategorized on December 28, 2009 at 4:30 pm
Oh what a crazy times – it`s been a week since our last post…but seriously, it’s really hard to find some spare minutes for  blogging while you are in that pre- and postchristmas delirium waiting for NYE to come. Thanks God today I don’t have to work and can dedicate some time to our blog.
Last Wednesday, finally, I visited store PAVILJONS at DOMINA SHOPPING CENTRE. That was nice experience – a lot of things, which I saw on last RFW was there on hangers! I recommend to check that shop out, and if you still haven’t got any clue what to put under your Christmas tree. Or you can simply get a present for your own self as I did. Look, here is another fabulous bow tie by Agnese Narņicka  HYPNOSIS FASHION  just for 10 LVL.
Tomorrow I’m planing to visit PAVILJONS again.  How knows, may be I’ll have another consumer impulse and max my credit card out…
BTW Anna W, who is almost blind how, but is is capable of separating text from pictures paid me a visit just before Christmas. No she is on holidays somewhere in the Alps. Anna I miss you, but your latest creations are…strange.
Happy holidays!

Christmas Tree a la Pandora!

In Uncategorized on December 21, 2009 at 8:49 pm

I had a wonderful weekend and there were many reasons for it!
I`v been posting about super-cool-worth-attending-and-not-regretting-afterwards party at Salt`n`Pepper. So last Saturday there was “The Lost Disco” party with Djs Dmi3 and Discomethod who have performed absolutely joyful music fro 70`s and 80`s with a New Age twist. Little teaser here:

I suggest y`all to come at Salt`n`Pepper to celebrate  New Year Eve on 31st Dec or next day, on 1st Jan for those who will need some hangover recovery. BTW drinks are really affordable.
As I was posting earlier I had a plan to visit ЯRMARKA, an even organized by Latvia College of Arts during Christmas time, where students are selling their creations. Some pieces were really masterpiece-ish. So if you still don’t have any x-mas presents, you may find them there. To the truth, I`m deliberately posting that photos now, because I wanted to make sure, that i`ll get some of this  before y`all, sorry ^_^. They are made out of porcelain and are really unique and atypically designed. Here are the pictures!!!

And here’s some extra info:

Also last Friday I was on Avatar, the movie by James Cameron. If you haven`t seen it yet, I’m telling you it`s a MUST. So I`v got really inspired by that film and sets and backgrounds and graphics and script and play and etc. So actually this film made my X-mas tree’s design.

And finally, just to tease you more – I know  where and when RFW is going to take place!!! Also there are some other great news, but everything in it’s own time.
Dear follower, I`ll be glad to receive and post your Christmas trees!

to be or not to be… new career???

@ Cosmo party… yeah, we were having fun, right, Boy?

And here’s some fun activity… Your opinion matters… 🙂

Girl & Boy for Maybelline faces???

In Uncategorized on December 17, 2009 at 10:22 pm

It’s cold out there…brr Christmas time is known not only for festive spirit and mulled wine, but also for, pardon me, shitty weather. Girl complained that this weather conditions makes her wear stuff, which makes her look like a fat penguin or Russian matrjoshka – but it’s not true. Girl and I are making a perfect match as a showman couple, but in black colour. I won’t post pictures, no f**** way.
It is also known, that a proper meal keeps you warm, so we had a lovely breakfast in our beloved restaurant K.I.D. – pancakes with ham and cheese, yummy. After examinating L`Officiel Latvia DEC issue we decided to have a quick shop tour right there in the old town.

For all those, who complains about poor selection of good clothing in Riga and has money for a good shopping i recommend a store called DECADENCE, where, already starting from this autumn you can buy not only Vivienne Westwood, but also Gareth Pugh (!!!!!) and Rick Owens (!!!!). I must add, that Gareth Pugh was so popular, that only one dress has left. Ladies, you gotta hurry to get this piece. Plenty of Rick Owens, both for men and women. If you like mentioned designers, i advice juts to visit this lovely store with friendly and cozy atmosphere on 13,  Mazā Smilšu street.

There are 3 shops, where you can buy KatyaKatya Shehurina creations, one of them is called Over Score on 16, Smilšu street. Also you can find there brands like COMME des GARÇONS, Yohji Yamamoto and Junya Watanabe. There was a coat which would suit me and Girl, so Christmas a la Japan.

By the way, we are going to attend Latvian Academy of Arts Christmas fair  ЯRMARKA!!! (

I don’t know if I have already mentioned that but I truly love Rick Owens and everything he does I consider as perfect art and lately I kinda like Gareth Pugh too – especially after his spring/summer2010 collection 🙂

soooo… Dear Santa!
as you know Christmas is coming… I’ ve been verrrrrrrrrrrrry good girl lately 🙂 and I know you always have problems deciding what to give me as a present, so I will make this process easier – Rick Owens leather jacket would be perfect surprise (I know you wanted to give me that fancy private jet (according to facebook quiz)… but you know what? As it is crisis – jacket will be just fine 🙂 btw you can read post by Boy and see where you can get one but… hurry up!!! if there’ s nothing left – there are plenty of Rick Owens store around the world, so you can get one on your way to me… I will warn Mr.Owens that you will take one 🙂

…Dear, Mr. Owens!
I just wanted to warn you that if you accidentally see one red wearing man (or deer Rudolph) in your store trying to choose the perfect leather jacket – then no worries – it’ s Santa Claus. Give him the best one… xoxo thanks & love you 🙂

Lost in vintāž (aka vintage)…

In Uncategorized on December 12, 2009 at 5:18 pm
I`m just back from Vintage Open Air Festival vol.2 organized by Agnese Kleina feeling a bit queer after yesterdays huge party. Actually i never went to SWAP-O-RAMA at SPACE::GARAGE for a particular reason – after examenating my wardrobe I realized that i have got nothing, but fine clothes which I`ll never swap. So that’s why i went to another party where i had few LIIT and got back at 5 this morning, had 3 hours sleep and then my lovely course mate Elina picked my up on a way to my university, where i had a final test, which, i`m hoping, will be good. Then Elina took me to Vintage Open Air Fest, where i`v met Girl.
I`m really appreciating Agnese Kleina’s goodwill, she has done a great job, namely she has gathered different designer, craftsmen and celebs under one roof, who were selling their good and some vintage stuff. For example, KatyaKatya Shehurina was selling some pieces from her old collections and, or some girls with vintage clothes.
I`m not really fond of second hand, but i coulnd’t resist this Jeans Jacket for 15 LVL (it’s going to be my party outfit for tonight). Also i liked bow tie with silhouette of Latvia – really patriotic and I’m planing to get it later.
It was not only me, who has bought some pieces. DJ Ksenia Kamikaza payed some 10 LVL for little cute trunk; Journalist, Julija Rumjanceva awesome striped mini skirt for 2 LVL; and Kirill Simichev, the SPACE:GARAGE man, flashy teddy bear for 5 LVL. It is so wonderful to do shopping for less than double digit.
I was interviewed by Jana, a girl from Zelta Zivtina ad, who is also a fashion blogger ( To tell the truth, i was a bit glitching but Gilr helped me, so actually quote “What’s comfortable is unfashionable, what’s fashionable – uncomfortable” belongs to her. Thank you daaaarling!
So i saw a lot of pretty stuff which is perfect fro x-mas gifts. I hope Girl and I will make x-mas gifts top10 soon, right?
BTW mulled wine for 2,5 LVL is way too much, sorry! After that fair we went to have a cup of coffee in META KAFE, kewl place with some buts but about tha a bit later.
Girl my head is not working, so i hope you`ll write some more particular information about the thing we have seen today. And whatever you will say – I’m totally with you. Remember about craftsmen invasion? OK, I’m off to RIX airport to pick up some friends from Germany. Have a great evening, everyone!!!!
Hey guys, do you remember that after visiting Tējas Roze (read here) I was talking about grandma who’s completely blind because someone has sold all of her glasses/frames to Tējas Roze. After Vintage Fest I got a feeling that poor grandma is not only blind but also completely naked… 🙂
I’m gonna be honest I don’t really know what’s the difference between second hand and vintage.  I guess vintage is considered as more upscale and unique because of the age (not sure how old the item should be when considered vintage and when antique?). What’s second hand then? Is it mass production? Anyone? I need help here…
Ok, I’m not a huge fan of all vintage/ 2nd hand things only because I just don’t really know how to wear it. If the dress actually belongs to 80 years old lady then somehow wearing it makes me feel and LOOK like grandma too. But I really, really do like people who can rock the vintage outfit without that smell of grandma’s closet. It’s all about the confidence here. However, I definitely couldn’t resist vintage Chanel, YSL, Balenciaga or Dior even if it makes me look like bizarre old lady… Haha do I sound snobbish? 🙂
Let’s get back to Vintage Fest – there were also a lot of handmade jewelry and accessories. But you know what, if 6 months ago I would say that embroidered brooch is super unique accessory that really stands out then right now it doesn’t feel like that anymore. Snobbish again?
Whatsoever –event was definitely unique and worth attending and I liked the common atmosphere there. It was inspirational and even if I didn’t buy anything I spend some good time there and met a lot of stylish people… As Boy already mentioned, we met Katya Shehurina and her adorable doggy (btw Jack Russell terriers are one of my all time favorites), Ance from Stils BezTabu who was actually selling nice stuff, Dace/ Jana from Zelta Zivtiņa and many more  🙂
gingerbreads are top-stuff now – YES, Christmas is almost here 🙂
btw if you’re still looking for Christmas presents (and I know you do): here are some ideas…
Girls from Stils BezTabu were selling nice alternative for those who’s already sick of žabo invasion:
pretty thing for goodnight sleep from Alise, more info here
aaaand my favorites – deliciously looking bio candles (I could literally eat one)…
That’s all for now…

THE GAGA WATCH and some stuff

In Uncategorized on December 11, 2009 at 3:57 pm

While i`m whiting this post i`m enjoying plaisirs de Noël – ginger bread and mulled wine from already beloved Coco Loco and listening to Lady Gaga’s x-mas choral song My Christmas Tree.

I know, dear followers that you are dying for some news about local clebs and designers, so tomorrow Girl and I are going to visit Open Air Vintage Festival organized by a  journalist and fashion blogger Agnese Kleina. May be we will see some of y`all there? Would be great. I hope there will be some mulled wine.

Ok, back to Lady Gaga – she is so ON now and it’s official. I-D magazine (my favorite) December issue has an article with her. Here are some pics:

And US Elle will put her on January’s cover. Here is video (click here):
We just love Lady Gaga.

By the way Girl and I were interview by ЖЗЛ magazine. We’ve just bought the latest issue and we are not happy – looks like that journalist had to much mulled wine and totally mixed up our answers. So whatever is written there is a complete bullocks.
What else?! Aoh! Party of course. Ok i`m going to pop in at SPACE:GARAGE here is a flyer:
And description:
Exclusively for this Friday, December the 11th Space:Garage will become Space:Cloakroom! This time you can leave your Gucci’s and Prada’s at home, because it will be all about exchanging clothes. If the word “swap” comes to your mind, you’ve guessed it correctly. Finally the globally recognized Swap-O-Rama will happen at Space:Garage. Just put on your funkiest and funniest things you don’t need anymore and dance until the special signal says to swap, that is exchange, them with any person near you.

In case you don’t have nothing swap-able at home, come anyway and buy things super cheeply at our second-hand market. Also you’ll be able to purchase the edgiest local designers’ stuff and coolest vintages at the night-market.
Of course, we haven’t forgot about the musical accompaniment. Our local ladies Nina “pop-mashina” Elektrichka and Ksenija Kamikaza will be escorted by an American gentleman Greg Eversoul from Sanfrancisco. Sounds fun, huh!? We give our word – it will be one hell of a playful party experience! Any obstacles to that will be held back at the entrance by face-control.
We need you to come and swap and make it a night to remember!

Door: Ls 2,- till 00.00; Ls 3,- after 00.00

See you there!
P.S. Tomorrows post is going to be more exciting. Honies, we know that you want more, but we have to work too. Remember it’s the end of the year – reports, documentation, post cards etc.?

Where do i begin…To tell the story of how great love…scratch… party can be. I’m just back from university, where i had a chance to select proper pictures from last night and now i`m looking at them and trying to remember every tiny detail of last night. Ok, let’s make it chronologically.

Venue/Act #1: “Grand opening of “ outlet”
As we were writing before, we were invited to a grand opening of some new outlet shop. I`v arrived to the place a bit earlier than Girl, and had a chance to investigate what it’s all about. During my investigation, i met Olga Kolotova, the fashion editor for L`Officiel Latvija, who told me, that she was expecting to see clothes, not a podium and random people. We’v mingled a bit and i continued my research. As i was done with it and i`v realized that Mrs Kolotova had a fabulous outfit, which was more than worth picture taking, she escaped…Actually that was the end of the investigation and the verdict is obvious: the opening is a subject of suspect.
Gee (super-duper producer, ) with Joel, the owner of the shop
Luckily, there was plenty of A champagne and i`v grabbed a glass, while Girl was on a line. Few minutes later we were drinking A champagne and asking ourself, where are celebs and are there any hobnobbing objects. Counting the amount of crystals on ladies, and holes on men’s jeanses, we came to conclusion, that there’s none, when all-of-the-sudden show began.
Girl, maybe you can help me, but i can`t recall, who’s collection was the first – either vintage show or Raigo Randes Supernoova. I reckon it was vintage show with Latvian beauty contest semi-finalists as models. Let pictures speak for them selfs.

Then we had a break, where Girl and I had another drink, our favorite G&T. Without any possibility to dry out our glasses, the second show followed. It was Latvian Michael Kors, but in-latvian-boring-gray-violet-bordeaux palette Alexander Pavlov’s brand FRAZZO catwalk with semi-model-semi-finalist of that beauty contest. By the way, where was Mrs. Fogele?! I actually liked few pieces, however, i believe Girl will give a proper review on it.
Finally, after finishing our second G&T, we had a change to move back to 90’s or 00` with a help of time machine created by designer Raigo Randes Supernoova (now I understand where that cosmos related word comes from). Despite the fact, that everything looked really haut couture, i could not get rid of a feeling that i saw it all before when i was in 8th grade – torn jeans, lather jackets etc is might be still popular in Estonia, the origin of that designer, in Latvia is almost a fashion rudiment.

On the way to Cosmopolitan party Girl and I inspired by Estonian fashion popped in to my place for a shot of traditional Estonian liqueur Kannu Kukk.

Venue/Act #2: Cosmopolitan party

When we arrived there, Girl and I delight our thirst of celebs and hobnobbing. Yes, K.I.D. restaurant, where the venue took place, was stuffed with all different kinds of well-and-not-so-known people. Also, there were some people, who, to mine concern were looking stylish and photo flash worthy :D. For example, Maija Silova, the TV diva with a big D, had a brilliant sequin dress (pity that my build-in flash is so crappy and sometimes refuses to participate in a good picture taking), perfect hair (i have no clue, what that Lady does to her hair) and radiant smile. By the way Ms Silova is not only a diva, but also a very nice person; or Liena from BikBok was absolutely firsthand; or Gita a girl, who lives in London in her striped dress.

Also there were few musicians – Markus Riva and Jānis Strapcāns, who’s also a TV presenter (Kinomānija at TV3) . Markus gave a really good performance. There was a huge argument between my friend regarding Markus Riva, and yes, dear friend if you were at Cosmo party you would understand why i like him – live performance with a lovely-sweet voice (in a good meaning). Plus Markus was wearing a shirt by SALT, which i love. I was writing before that I’m going to get some stuff from award-winning designer Indra Salceviča.
Also we met Dace Krievina, the fashion editor at Cosmo. Doh, she is the fashion editor, she knows dos and don’ts.

Venue/Act #3 Chopstick at Salt’n’Pepper
Yes, we were there, at Salt’n’Pepper bar, the official and hottest pre-party place in Riga, which actually is perfect from parties as well. And it`s not only us who thinks so. Gosh Dj Chopstick was spinning great tracks and mixes, whatever it’s called – i’m not good in music. As long as you can dance along it it’s super. And I’v danced a lot – pity that i had a class at university next day, so i had to leave. Oh yes, by the way Chopstick is quite a star. Google him. Oh yes, Dj was wearing American Apparel tee, I have it too :p My favourite.

I guess Girl has something to shear with us – like a banknote hahah.

Final Act – i had a dream, i was in London with my friend. We were moving to a new fancy dorm at Piccadilly Circus. How fabulous! May be it will become true someday. Yes, Sebastian, it we were together cleaning our new dorm.

Haha, that was one interesting night! First of all, grand (khm khm) opening of Outlet was, well, not grand. I was almost one hour late and when I got there I was surprised that there were like only 30-40 people. Literally! Huh? Ok but maybe it’s just me but I absolutely didn’t feel comfortable there… And if I’m going to the opening of the store then I wanna see a real stuff that they are going to sell not one completely empty space. Well, I’m not sure if I ever go back there to see what they’re selling. First impression, you know…
Talking about fashion shows – I thought that first show was something vintage (then it could be pretty cool) but actually it wasn’t. Aghh I can’t tell anything good, I just didn’t like it – some random pieces put together with no sense.

Frazzo looked more like a complete collection however it didn’t blow me away. I didn’t see anything unique or something to remember. It could be any other brand/shop presentation – grey coats, dark dresses and trousers, knitwear; one thing I liked was accentuated waistline but I guess that’s it. And the last show was (khm khm) tasteless, bad interpretation of Ed Hardy… Comparing to this Ed Hardy is the king of style (and I’m definitely not a fan of Ed Hardy haha).

Cosmo party was better, restaurant KID was full. I guess there were a lot of Cosmo readers/ girls and their punished boyfriends 🙂

We also met president of Baltic Fashion Federation Elena Strahova (thanks for lovely RFW) , Gee and TV diva Maija Silova – I can only agree that she is one super good looking and, yes, super nice and sweet person as well.

And then came handsome musicians… 🙂 First of all – guys who wear SALT are awesome in the matter of style 🙂 and if they can sing live is definitely a bonus too. So, clappp, clapppp (applause) to Markus Riva. Btw Boy and Girl are just baaaad at singing; don’t even ask to do that… However we are singing a lot when working at the office, mostly Lady Gaga, Britney and Madonna’s infamous yeaaaaaaaaaaah from Celebration.

I didn’t spend a lot of time in Salt’n’pepper, so I trust Boy if he says that party was good. But while I was there we met Aisha who didn’t look very happy (don’t trust pic), but Dj Chopstick was good.

Aaaaand… When I finally got home I found out that after partying I still got 20Ls in my wallet (wow that’s good) BUT somehow there was a big hole in the middle of the banknote? How??? Not sure if that was also a reason why my taxi driver didn’t wanna take it (however he said that he just doesn’t have a change but who knows?) I guess I should start a new Facebook group called Unknown Money Injuries or check if there’s a monster living in my wallet… 🙂 haha

Glühwein with a Jamaican twist!

In Uncategorized on December 4, 2009 at 10:17 am

Christmas is known not only for presents, santas, ginger bread, and annoying children choir, but also for a mulled wine. This Christmas’s traditional beverage is popular, i guess, everywhere. There’s a special word in any language, till exempel, in Scandinavia it`s called Glögg, in German-speaking countries – Glühwein, in Latvian – Kartsvīns, in Russian Глинтвейн.
Riga, especially old town is stuffed with different kinds of Christmas markets with traditional seasonal crap. Walking around, we Girl and Boy, have noticed something outrageous – Jamaican bar Coco Loco, which has mulled wine too! And guess what, they make it with rum. Doh, Jamaican mulled wine without rum, wouldn’t be Jamaican!
The beverage is delicious, has a nice after-taste and makes that all rainy/foggy days more colourful. Price: 1 LVL. Location: The Dome square.

By the way a journalist from German TV channel ZDF was interviewing local Santa. I can’t find that report, must be post-production
Ok, i have to go now. Just a little teaser: tonight Girl and Boy are going to attend 3 venues – fashion magazine party,  store grand opening and radio program’s 6th anniversary with a special guest Dj Chopstick from Berlin.

Foggy Shopping

In Uncategorized on December 2, 2009 at 11:56 am
This winter has started not with lavish snow, but with foggy and rainy weather – feels like you are being sprayed with EVIAN Brumisateur all over your body. Christmas is coming and all of us have to think of presents for our friends and relatives. I know that it’s unpleasant to walk around Riga under mentioned weather conditions, but Girl and Boy have done some work for you, dear followers. We have discovered a lovely Latvian designers boutique in the very heart of Riga. Let us introduce Tējas Roze boutique, where lot of different stuff, like accessories, clothes and home garments are available at good price.

When i came in, the first thing, which has attracted me was ginger bread and slices of pie accessories made out of felt. They are marvelous – will fit any look and any this season’s venue. Cost around 8 LVL
Also there was a wide range of cotton bags -eco/bio/organic trend, of which i`m not fond of, but still it`s comfortable and you can carry there even a laptop. I`v bought one with stars for myself just for 2 LVL.
Speaking of home accessories there are lot’s of Christmas themed trifles – angels, bells and other x-mas décors.
Everything for reasonable price and after shopping there you`ll have a warm feeling of helping Latvian economy and doing something against recession. Happy shopping!

I can agree that Tējas Roze is one nice place where is interesting to shop and there are unique presents as well as things for your self. Some of them are pricey, some aren’t . My absolutely favorite were brooches – lips, super cute accessories with that trendy 80s/ disco feeling…

And for all vintage lovers – If you’ re looking for a new glasses –  you can find there frames a la grandma (I’v got a feeling that some grandma is left without any, and now she’s completely blind) 🙂

Also if you’ re looking for a fake fur coat (I think that’s what everybody doing right now), then you can find one made by Kupiansky. Price tag – 60Ls.

Hou-hou-hou 22 days and Christmas is here 🙂
